“Thank you for being part of the solution! I admire and respect the dedication necessary for standing in the front lines. Inspiring a shift is sometimes a task of Herculean magnitude. I acknowledge you for taking that on. I am honored to have participated in your great work.

- Frank Ferrante, featured in the documentary film, May I Be Frank?

The Rawality Round 2 Commencement and Transition Celebration, which included our special guest speaker Frank Ferrante, was successful!  Pictures and more, coming soon.

Rawality Participants Celebrate Their Program Commencement

(L) Rawality Participants, their families, and Kirt Tyson, ND.
(R) Dr. Tyson speaks to the public attending the commencement

Rawality Participants celebrated their transformation and self-healing of type 2 diabetes!  The Participants reflected on their life-changing achievements with their Rawality Coaches.  We enjoyed excellent commencement speakers, including Kirt Tyson, ND.  Most of all, a community circle stood, fully acknowledging and blessing the participants’ accomplishments.  The Participants event prepared the event’s live-food themselves – including sprouts, sauces, dips, pates, zucchini bread, flax crackers, vegetables, and more!
Rawality is accepting only a few more participants in the March 19-April 22 round of the Rawality Program.  Learn more!

An essential part of the Rawality Program is the embeddedness in one’s own life in which one embarks on the Rawality Program, and therefore inherently, the transition between the 30-day program and the long-term life-change part of the program is about celebrating each Participant and their inner resources, and their resources from their family, friends, and community.  Join us for the 1st Group Commencement/Transition Celebration this Sunday, February 5, including a remarkable and special guest speaker!…More

The January 15 event, Rawality Program Love-Raising Event, at the Happiness Institute (HI) brought together a beautiful gathering along with inspiring shared wisdom, information, resources for vital wellness and transformative aliveness, and more! Thank you everyone who attended, the first Rawality participants who we were celebrating, all who took home a meaningful message, each one who shared as a speaker, and everyone who supported the Love Raising.

Look for photos and videos of the Love-Raising soon!

Our Service Model

January 6, 2012

Our model for giving service is an adaptation for urban type 2 diabetes in the US based on Aravind, the world’s largest eye-care provider, based in India founded in 1976.  Its core principle, like ours, is that it must provide services to the rich and poor alike, yet be financially self-supporting. Aravind treats over 1.7 million patients each year, two-thirds of them for free.  Like Aravind, we give people that choice.  Read the next blog for our pilot program and overall achievement intentions.

Pilot Program

October 27, 2011

Rawality Reversing Diabetes House, or “Rawality House,” has had a tremendous month – which happens to have coincided with National Food Month!  For general information about the Rawality House mission and vision, see the prior post.

During “National Food Month,” in addition to having productive meetings with regional partners, we have developed a relationship with the first family that Rawality House will work with as our Pilot Program.  While meeting the family we are working with in the Pilot Program, Derrick, an artist, husband, and father of 3, shares a laugh with Rawality House director Michael Bedar:

Brandi, a master’s student, wife, and mother of Isis, also shown below, during our meeting with the family whose home transformation will help serve as the pilot project of Rawality House:

Reggie, Rawality House Transformation Coach, has some good rapport with Derrick:

In this pilot program, the family, themselves, will be paying for the food at an expense level that works for their living budget.  Also, rent will, of course, be covered by the family, who will continue living in their home where the pilot program is taking place.

The pilot program’s expenses will include:

  • Transportation for the pilot program’s coaches and live-food trainers to and from the family’s home, and sometimes to get food supplies.
  • The mostly-volunteer coaching, training, and holistic medical supervision staff who require some financial support.
  • Filming the pilot program, requiring camera and data storage equipment, and the camera operators.
  • Fees for a leading-edge website on which we will deliver entertaining, inspiring, and educational video shows of the transformation of the family – using today’s interactive live-streaming, chatting, and forums!

For the above items, we are raising $2011.12 in funds to start the pilot project in a few weeks.  Please support our pilot now with funds and intangibles, too!

Rawality House 30 Day Program

September 6, 2011

10% of Oakland adult residents have Type 2 diabetes. 1 out of 3 people born after the year 2000, will have diabetes. And that rate goes up to 1 out of 2 in the African American population. Diabetes is an epidemic… and lucky for us: it is a dis-ease that is preventable and reversible.

Can you imagine… an entire city free of diabetes? No people suffering from type 2 diabetes in all of the United States? And, eventually, a world free of all preventable illness?

To that goal, we are setting out right here, right now with people in our local neighborhood, in Oakland, CA. 1) We are educating people continually on how to prevent type 2 diabetes from arising; and 2) we are accepting 8 motivated adults that have type 2 diabetes, and in 30 days we will help them reverse their diabetes with diet and lifestyle changes.  After this, we will accept a new set of 8 people every program cycle.

The idea for Rawality House started with Micha’el Bedar who helped make a film called Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 days.  At the time of filming, he was studying Live Food Nutrition and Spiritual Nutrition with Gabriel Cousens, MD, at the Tree of Life in Patagonia, AZ.  Bedar came to Oakland in 2009, soon after the release of the film, and started screening it in many places around the Bay Area.  The response was tremendous. And, often the response was, “Yes, we need something like this in Oakland, close to home,” and “Prevention is key, too!”   So, Micha’el set out to do exactly that. He attracted a group of people around him that shared the vision of preventing and reversing diabetes naturally and started a movement in the Bay Area.

Thus far, there have been many hours of meetings for The Movement to Prevent and Reverse Diabetes Naturally. And now, we’ve got a team of about 7+ folks that has been gathering every other week for a little over 6 months. Soon, we should have a physical location to jump start this trial of an in-city retreat center to reverse diabetes.

Check out the plan and if you think you can help in some way, please tell us how! We think there’s a need for this program to exist in the City of Oakland, as well as many other major cities in the U.S. Your support, in all ways, will show us that you agree- this is something that’s really needed.
